Tech Centre

Workrise reached out to Innov8 to design and install their new Belfast based office. Workrise, (formerly known as Rigup) based in Austin, Texas, established a new Tech Centre in Belfast in 2021.

The commercial interior design specification focused on delivering the project with costing in mind. Innov8 did not compromise on quality and used their global purchasing power to secure product ranges that were competitive, functional, durable and fit for purpose.

Who We Are

Innov8 provided designs, furnishings and installation for 80 work stations and multiple function areas including breakout areas, bespoke built-in acoustic sound proof booths, and multiple private meeting rooms designed for 2, 4, 6, 10 and 20-people.

The final biophilic design included neutral tones throughout the office space, soft natural wood finishes seen through the reception, walls and desk tops.

This biophilic office also included subtle green booths and plants to add colour and bring elements of nature into the office. Biophilic office spaces are proven to increase staff productivity, creativity and morale.

The office is a very open and flexible space with a large breakout area and café, allowing staff to feel comfortable and encourage communication and cooperation.

Global Partners

Innov8 partnered with CHBC to complete an office interiors project for a global media company in Milan. Innov8 provided all furniture for the design to create a comfortable work environment.

CHBC provide turnkey fit out for clients globally. Innov8 provided all furniture for an open plan communal office.  All work stations were complete with  integrated European desktop power modules. The aim of this design was to clearly communicate branding throughout. Innov8 provided furnishings with branding in mind for a collection of small huddle rooms, larger meeting rooms and a breakout room which incorporated a mixture of high and low level seating.

Déjà vu

Innov8 have been working with Irwin M&E to reimagine their Mallusk office space. Coincidentally, Innov8 had previously worked on the same space many years prior for another Innov8 Client, Chain Reaction Cycles.

The focus of the refurbishment specification was to provide improved air flow, reduced noise pollution, improved energy efficiency and incorporate Irwin brand colours.

Who We Are

Innov8 provided solutions to meet the specification and create a comfortable workspace. The office redesign included Irwin corporate colours throughout. The redesign introduced three new spacious meeting rooms and four single-person offices.

The open-plan office space was redesigned to include acoustic sound reducing panels to decrease noise pollution; a new VRF air conditioning system to improve air flow; and energy efficient LED lighting with zone presence detection to improve energy usage.

Innov8 and the Hubflow team have had a long-standing working relationship, with Innov8’s design team working hand-in-hand with the Hubflow team to assist them with sourcing, pitching and converting their properties in to meaningful shared office spaces. The first of which was the Gallery, on Dublin Rd, Belfast.

The space includes 90+ workstations, break space, meeting pods using natural wood tones throughout.

The space features a strong brand palette, and Innov8 were able to source and supply complimentary seating with matched-in RAL colours and fabric to continue the highlight colours through the Loose Furniture.

The central spine in the common areas features a snaking variation of informal working and meeting zones, with coordinated loose furniture throughout.

A Welcome Change

Innov8 had been servicing Axiom Law through our partners in Scottish Provident Building while they grew through their services offices.

At the stage of needing their own dedicated space in Belfast, Innov8 were on hand to assist their Facilities Team, and work alongside their appointed architect, Philip Rogers Design, to implement a two floor work space in the Lincoln Building.

Global Delivery

After the completion of Axiom Law’s new Belfast offices, Innov8 were, again, approached about bringing the same service excellence to other areas of the Axiom Law global facilities.

Our team designed a new space in Frankfurt, and delivered and installed over the course of 3 days.

Continued Growth

Davies Group Dublin in 2021 acquired an existing client of Innov8 (The Thornton Group).

The original office has now been extended and Innov8 were delighted to work once again to design and fit out Thornton Groups relocation to Park West Dublin. Innov8 designed and installed the extended office, helping Davies Group grow and extend their business.

A biophilic work environment is not ‘just adding a few plants here and there’. A biophilic work environment brings nature indoors, creating a comfortable, collaborate, work promoting space. We can bring nature indoors by incorporating natural light, colour, natural features such as wood and stone, plant life, utilising any available outdoor spaces such as balconies or courtyards, and allows staff space and choice of quiet areas and communal work areas. Not only will your office look more aesthetically pleasing, but it is also proven that biophilic workspaces have an influence on productivity, morale and wellbeing.

The benefits of a biophilic office include:

• Improved productivity – up to an 11% improvement in productivity with good air quality.
• Increased concentration levels – 6% reported improved productivity in offices with natural elements such as greenery and sunlight and nature in the office can reduce fatigue by up to 38%.
• Improved creativity and collaboration – 15% of staff experience improved creativity in offices with natural elements such as greenery and sunlight.
• Enhanced wellbeing – 35% lower short term sick leave in offices ventilated by an outdoor air supply and 15% higher level of overall wellbeing in offices with natural elements such as greenery and sunlight.
• Greater staff retention – up to 33% of workers say that the design of an office would affect their decision to work at a company.

Biophilic office design principles

As we have said, creating a biophilic work environment is not ‘just putting a few plants here and there’. It is much more complex. There are six key characteristics of a biophilic work environment.

Environmental features

The first principle of creating a biophilic office environment is to incorporate environmental features. This is bringing characteristics of the natural world into the build environment. This includes elements such as : colour, water, fire, air, sunlight, plants, animals, natural materials, views, Façade greenery and habitats and ecosystems.

Light and Space

The second element of a biophilic work environment is light and space. This utilises qualities of light and spatial relationships. This can include artificial natural light. Elements of light and space include: natural light, filtered and diffused light, light and shadow, reflected light, light pools, warm light, light as shape and form, spaciousness, spatial variability, space as shape and form, spatial harmony and inside-outside spaces. By utilising certain light features, you can make a room feel more or less spacious.

Natural patterns and processes

The third principle of a biophilic work environment is natural patterns and processes. This is incorporating natural properties into the built environment. Natural properties includes: variety of sensory systems, central focal points, transitional spaces, complementary contrasts, dynamic balance and growth and patterned wholes. This is all about connecting to our environment through our senses, through bringing natural elements into the built environment of the office.

Natural shapes and forms

The fourth principle is natural shapes and forms. This is the process of creating shapes and forms which represent or simulate natural elements. Creating shapes such as: tree and columnar supports, shells and spirals, arches and domes helps to bring natural shapes and forms into your space.

Human-nature relationship

The fifth principle is human-nature relationships. This involves including aspects of the inherent human relationship to nature. This means including features which showcase how humans have been shaped by nature creating feelings of curiosity, refuge, attachment and exploration. This can make your office feel very comfortable and homely.

Place-based relationships

Finally, the sixth principle of a biophilic office design is place-based relationships. This involves connecting your office to its location historically, culturally, geographically or spiritually. This can include using colours to simulate local mountains and rivers.

The relationship went from strength to strength, and at a global level, Concentrix recognised the services levels offered to their Belfast site, and wanted to roll this out across their global sites.

A merger with Convergys added the fuel to the fire, and soon Innov8’s Belfast team were flying to Arizona, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Spain & Portugal to service the Concentrix teams there too.

Innov8 flew to Phoenix, Arizona to fit-out a floor in Concentrix’s Marketing suite, along with a custom boardroom, collaboration zones and privacy booths.

Michigan, USA

Madrid, Spain

Concentrix brought their bright and vibrant branding to Madrid. Concentrix has trusted us to bring their brand to life on a global scale. Concentrix bright branding is important to their culture and we have use their bright colours throughout all office spaces.

Porto, Portugal

Innov8’s design team worked with the Concentrix Site Team and Marketing Teams to deliver a site in Porto, Portugal for over 600 stations, various training suites and meeting rooms.

Varna, Bulgaria

Varna was one of the first European projects that Innov8 implemented for Concentrix which brought together Desking, Seating and Storage to set up a new 300 person contact centre on Bulgaria’s North Sea Coast.

Sofia, Bulgaria

Capital Fort in Sofia stands out over the capital’s skyline. Innov8 designed, supplied & installed a full package for Concentrix – desking, seating, acoustic panels, and personal storage lockers.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Innov8 was delighted to design and fit out the Concentrix office in Bratislava, Slovakia. The brief was to maintain their strong brand identity and for each workstation to have height adjustable tables for all staff.

Iconic regeneration

Concentrix Belfast began talks with Innov8 in 2015 in anticipation of outgrowing their current offices in Lanyon Place, Belfast.

Innov8 worked with the Concentrix team and their appointed architect, Isherwood & Ellis, to begin conceptualising their new proposed space, Maysfield.

The project involved a complete restoration and refurbishment of the old Maysfield Leisure Centre, adding in additional floors and facilities to accommodate the 1,800+ staff that were soon to be occupying their new workspace.

The project was installed in phases, with tight coordination with the appointed contractors, and handed over ahead of their opening in October 2016.
